GREETINGS (a.k.a. Artist Statement)
“Happiness is a warm typeface.”

If type is “clothing that letterforms wear”… then mine wear flannel. As a Vermonter, I value reliability, durability & warmth.
I love seeing the person behind the words: handwritten notes from a loved one… the annotated drawings of Aubrey Beardsley… the custom-made font used by Alison Bechdel for her graphic memoirs.

I appreciate the rawness and immediacy of zines, comix & protest signs.
I collaborate with activists & artists by supplying fonts that are reliable, durable & down-home-beautiful… akin to the causes & communities I support.
I design with an eye toward quirky pragmatism, sincerity & succinctness.

Needless to say, if an independent type foundry has a mascot… ours is our golden retriever puppy.
